WE
INVITE YOU TO COME SERVE WITH US
The
Indiana Guard Reserve:
is a service oriented community-based, military organization
authorized by Indiana law as a supplement to the Indiana Army
National Guard based at sixty-six Indiana Army National Guard
Armories throughout the State of Indiana.
Indiana Guard Reserve Is Opportunity
Knocking: We are looking for Indiana citizens just
like your self --- men and women who once served in the military
services or those who would like to, but missed that chance.
Now is your opportunity to become a member of the IGR . You
can now serve by being a member of the IGR and assisting in
the well-being of your community.
Indiana Guard Reserve Is A Rather Exclusive
Club: Not everyone gets in since you must be accepted
and meet certain standards of conduct and appearance.
Indiana Guard Reserve Is An All Volunteer
Organization: There is no pay for travel or drills,
no uniform allowance, no points toward retirements. There
is no duty outside the State of Indiana. However, what you
do receive by volunteering is the wearing of the Army uniform,
sense of pride, commitment, time for training and the opportunity
to provide service back to your community. Experience camaraderie
and the pride of military service. Achieve prestige and military
promotions as reward for demonstrated potential and a job
well done.
Indiana Guard Reserve Training:
Unit meetings are held once a month, usually Tuesday evening
and once a quarter on Saturday. Also, two and one half days
Annual Training each fall, normally the second weekend in
September at Camp Atterbury. This encampment covers such subjects
as family assistance, armory support activities, communications
and other facets of the unit mission.
Indiana Guard Reserve Rank & Promotions:
is based upon your civilian and military experience, schooling,
duty performance, potential, education and needs of the IGR.
Indiana Guard Reserve Uniforms:
As a sworn-in member of the IGR you will be authorized to
wear the U.S. Army duty uniforms, both Class A and B, as well
as the Class C or Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). Ownership of
the Dress Blue is optional. Wear of these uniforms is authorized
with minor insignia modifications. Decorations from your prior
service along with IGR and Indiana State awards are authorized
for wear.
